Limey (4 out of 10 ) This movie is well known for extracting tears from its viewers and I was no different. But the tears I shed were out of sheer, mind boggling boredom. I mean, the cinematography is beautiful, the acting is great and the love story drives a stake right through your heart. But it's just unbearably, achingly dull!
Kristin-Scott Thomas is a luminous highlight, the kind of lady you'd trip up and land face first in a pile of shit in front of.
ThatJimGuy (10 out of 10 ) One of my favorite movies. I wasn't bored. Juliette Binoche puts on yet another very fine performance. It's a tear-jerker, and as a guy, there are very very very few movies that make me get a lump in my throat. This was definitely one of them. But it's more than a tragic love story, there are actually two love stories here. One that is ending/has ended, and one that is beginning. There is also the intrigue of the man with no fingers which weaves through the plot. Overall, I think this was a fine movie. Good plot, cinematography, acting - I mean you can't ask for much more! I have to give it a 10, which is extremely rare for me since I am very critical of films. I just couldn't find any staggering flaws in this. Highly recommended!
